The Latest GIS Day News
Join the Worldwide Celebration November 18
GIS Day is a month away. If you want to participate but haven't planned an event yet, don't worry. There is still time, and we have many resources available to help you.
Plan your event. Not sure how you should celebrate? Find inspiration by perusing registered events or reading success stories about some of those that have already taken place.
Register your event. This is a great way to gain awareness for your GIS Day celebration. By registering, you make your event searchable to those who visit the GIS Day Web site.
Minimize your time spent by taking advantage of the many GIS Day materials. Everything from an editable invitation template and PowerPoint presentations to customizable signs and electronic postcards will save you a little planning time.
Activity Ideas for All Ages
Children
Treasure Hunt - An excellent learning tool for K-1 kids learning the different continents
GIS Day Memory Game - Challenges you to search for matching GIS pictures on a grid (three levels available)
Downloads for these activities, as well as many other suggestions, are available on the materials page.
Adults
There's always helpful information to be shared in the ESRI Education Community. Catch up on the latest news about geography and GIS at the GIS Education Community blog.
"Meet" Volunteers
Want to get involved in GIS Day but can't host an event? Volunteer at an event near you. Or, maybe you're hosting an event and could use an extra pair of hands. We'll try to help you make the connection through an online discussion forum. And remember that you can also connect with other GIS Day participants on Twitter and Facebook.
New GIS Day Gear
Show your GIS Day support by wearing a new GIS Day shirt or hat. Reward your event attendees with mouse pads, pencils, pins, and stickers. All the new items are available in the ESRI Store. Place your order soon to allow adequate shipping time.
Share Your Story
Take time after your event to recognize yourself and your organization by sharing your success with the GIS Day community. There are several ways to do this:
- Submit a success story or nominate a GIS Day hero. These stories will provide guidance and ideas to those who will be planning GIS Day events next year.
- Share your T-shirt photos, cake photos, and proclamations, and we'll post them to the GIS Day Web site.
- Did you make a video of your event? Post it on YouTube, and we'll add it to the GIS Day Channel.
