City of Indio & Teen Center
Indio, CA
The City of Indio celebrated the ten-year anniversary of GIS Day with several Coachella Valley GIS professionals and Teen Center youth in attendance. The event was located at the City's newly built Teen Center, where GIS classes are held in a state-of-the-art classroom facility built for the young adults. Students enjoy researching geographic data and assembling maps for classroom projects.

The city's Human Services Manager, David Ison, gave a presentation about the city's youth and the need for educating the "cutting edge technology" for today's youth. Emina Sulych, GISP, the instructor of the Teen Center GIS class, gave a slide show presentation on the projects the city has worked on over the past year. Completed projects were completed by Emina Sulych and Kathy Ward. See photos.
