We work as administrators of GIS in the corporation Mostecka uhelna a.s. (Most coal j.s.c.) which is one of the major producers of brown coal in the Czech Republic.
Last year we joined the celebration of GIS Day for the first time. In our opinion it was very successful and at least funny event for us and also for our colleagues. We decided to continue celebrating the similar way this year. For the celebration on 19th of November we prepared the "GIS Day cake" and "GIS Day T-shirts" decorated with the special logo which we created for GIS Day in our company. This logo represents Earth in the mouth because our motto for this year was "Celebrate GIS Day 2008 with the smile". Our colleagues could send us anecdotes in the theme of informatics or geography. We chose the best three anecdotes, and their authors received a beautiful map and small gifts. On the 19th of November we invited our colleagues for presentation about Geographic information systems which was accompanied with consumption of our GIS Day cake.
We think that celebration of GIS Day could be a nice tradition and already now we are looking forward to GIS Day 2009! See photos.
