The City of Longview, in conjunction with Gregg County Appraisal District, presented GIS Day 2006 at Maude Cobb Convention Center on November 29. Five rooms were utilized to include interactive exhibits pertaining to the following categories: What Is GIS?, GIS for Development, GIS for Infrastructure Management, GIS for Emergency Response, and GIS for Education. Such informative and entertaining exhibits as a visually stunning 3-D movie, a 911 Dispatch presentation, a hands-on display of various Public Works equipment, and the City's Emergency Operations Mobile Command Center were incorporated into the day's activities. Games, prizes, refreshments, and GIS-related giveaway items were appreciatively enjoyed by 500+ attendees.
