Bahamas NGIS cakeThe BNGIS Centre, Office of The Prime Minister, in the Bahamas held their event at Queen's College on Weds., 15th November 2006. The GIS Youth Club members, their supervising teacher, Mrs. Tsavoussis, and Danielle Hanek, GIS Day Coordintor, celebrated by having a GIS Day Cake for their club meeting on 16th November 2006. see closeupThese cookies were made for Hamilton, Canada's event back in 2004. "My co-workers have been after me ever since to post them on your website and make them some more to eat too. You will notice that there are two types, an Eastern and Western hemisphere cookie. They are all 'hand-painted' shortbread cookies, and I did them all from what I remembered the world to look like, I didn't want to cheat and open an atlas. I made about 10 dozen small cookies in total and the 2 more detailed ones." Get more info on how to decorate these cookies. New York cake This cake was made by high school senior Dietrich Knauer's mom, Denise, for her son's presentations to five 7th grade classes at Blue Mountain Middle School in Cortlandt Manor, New York. Approximately 120 students were in attendance. Dietrich said, "Staff from the Westchester County GIS Department joined me in presenting a GIS information session at my former middle school's science classes." Sent in by Denise Knauer.
