Learn About Cutting Edge Technology and Future Career Opportunities by Participating in GIS Day
Students are:
- K-12
- Clubs and organizations (e.g., 4H Clubs, Girl and Boy Scouts, EAST Programs)
- Undergraduates and Postgraduates
- Community College and University GIS Clubs and Professional Societies
As 21st century students you know the importance of keeping up with technology and gaining new skills. GIS Day gives you the chance to become proficient with new technologies and an opportunity to interact with your instructors and local industry professionals in a new way. These mentors will help to cultivate your talents, encourage good citizenship and community participation, and help you envision your future career options.
Participation is easy, and can be as simple as finding a GIS Day event in your local area to attend. Visit your local college/university and find out about their GIS program. Ask your teacher if you can make a GIS Day presentation to your class for extra credit, or encourage your club leader to investigate GIS on the Web. Perhaps your research will produce an idea for using GIS to accomplish a project that could help your community.
You can choose to do one of these, or all of these; it's simply up to you.
Benefits of Participation
- Proficiency with GIS technology
- Relationships with instructors and industry professionals (mentor/protégée relationships)
- Vision of, and information about, career options and potential career paths
