GIS Day 2007 at
Forsyth County GIS Services
Cumming, Georgia, USA
One of the special activities my colleague Rob Thomas and I planned was a "Where in the World are our County Seniors From?" map.
We went to the Forsyth County Senior Center two weeks before GIS Day so they could all put their pin in the map. We asked them to place the pin in the city they considered to be their hometown. For some it was where they were born, and some where they grew up. We then took the map back to the Administration building and used it as one of the key displays in our Map Gallery.
On GIS Day all the seniors that could come were bussed over from the Senior Center, and we had a wonderful time! They have a great global background, and our own hometown girl, Gertrude Holbrook, is going to be the star of Forsyth County's 175th Birthday Party Celebration next month!
They all had a wonderful time attending GIS Day and winning some of our door prizes!
